Kilted on the shores of Lake Michigan
Well, I've been lurking for months. I finally decided to post
I live in Muskegon, MI. Muskegon is on the west side of the state and known for being on both Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake. Its a city in size, but not culture.
I have been wearing my Black Workmans' Utilikilt for about 4+ years now. My good friend and I found out about UK while watching The Screen Savers, then he gifted himself, another friend and myself one for christmas, thanks to a being hit my a truck . That was while we were living in Marquette, MI.
For some reason it never crossed my mind to come looking for a forum for the kilted. Until that is I ran into the UK booth at Gencon last year. One of the guys manning the booth suggested I join the yahoo group, so I did. I about Xmarks from there and came over and joined up. I haven't posted because usually someone else had already said what I was thinking.
Over this past Holiday season my maternal grandfather passed away. However, while at the services I was able to collect some information to get me started on my geniology. He was a McMurray, scotch-irish and I am interested in knowing more about my past. I also have some Cherokee from that side.
I am also posting a pic in another thread.

Welcome to the forum. I'm from Va, but I spent nearly a year in Great Lakes Ill while in navy boot camp and Electronics school. I have at least been thru your area.

Its great to be welcomed this way!
Wow! A kilt in GR and a Detroit! That is awesome. I know that when I first started lurking it warmed my heart to see Big Paul was from MI but to see someone from West Michigan is wonderful. I have another kilted friend who lives in GR. Either of you thinking about coming up to Muskegon for the Irish Music Festival in September? We're gonna have a great St Patrick's day too, Craic Wisley will be playing, they're a GR band.
I haven't spent much time in Colorado, but I hear you guys have some great breweries and Viriginia has some of my favorite wineries. So I am jealous. (not to say Michigan doesn't have good wineries and breweries. I like them too! )
