LEDs are commercialy available as replacements for regular bulbs. We're using them in landscape lights, fountains and water gardens. A Google search shall bring enlightenment.

Dont forget that the etymology of the term "bulb" comes form the formed nature of the glass housing that maintained a non-reactive environment for the filament to glow.
Given their shape, a LED might also be considered a 'bulb', though it operates on a different principle than the incandescant lights that started the term.

(this thread reminds me, did you ever have a discussion online over the proper use of the terms 'drill', 'bit', and 'drill gun'?)

I'd like to go on record here to say that I'm a little sick of all these "Johnny-come-lately's" claiming to be using Light Bulbs.

Unless it's utilizing a either a carbon filament or a carbonized bamboo filament with an average life of 40 hours, it isn't a true light bulb.

    It's a skirt.

But is it an African or European light bulb. It makes a difference, ya know. ;-)

You all forgot one very important part of the forum population - those who will argue that the bulb doesn't need to be changed, because they are not afraid of the dark.

    What is darkness?

Why are we fearful of it?

Why do we agitate electrons to create light?

    Do they like being agitated?

Does the light bulb/lamp go out because they (the electrons) rebel and break the connection?

What was the point of this line of questioning in the first place?

    Funny Thread Raphael!
