    Caught in the act ...

Was caught in the act here of drinking yet another nice beer. This time from an Edinburgh Brewery.

OK I get it now...after only 5 hours of sleep, I saw your picture and said...
"Man, Edinburgh really has some cozy looking brewerys...."

The beer was from an Edinburgh brewery, you were not IN an Edinburgh brewery. Did you ever hear of a Scottish beer called Skull Splitter? Its been years since I read about it in a newspaper review. Just curious.
    Great pic as always.

Patrick ... I watched the match as well. Hope you have managed to get tickets for next Sunday. Will pm you later today... hoping we can still meet up.
HeathBar .. My thread does sound as if I was in a Brewery. Unfortunately not. No, I have never tried Skull Splitter. Its in the Good Beer Guide as I just had a look .. Brewed by Orkney Brewerys, Stromness. ABV 8.5%. Must put it on a got to try list.
There is also a beer I spotted in the book called Nessie Monster Mash 4.4%, brewed by the Cairngorm Brewery, Aviemore.
It might be an idea to have a seperate section on X Marks for us guys to dicuss/compare etc, beers, lagers and wine etc. Just a thought.

Do you get a whisky taste from the oak aging of that beer?

    J. W. Lees has a line of Harvest Ales, each of which is aged in a different type of barrel - port, sherry, Calvados, and Lagavulin (perhaps others, but those are the four I've had). Each is distinctly flavoured by its oak, and let me tell you, the Lagavulin ale is incredible!

The Skull Splitter is a good, malty Scotch ale.

The Dominion Brewery in Virginia had an Oak Barrel Stout that was casked in old whiskey barrels. It had a very unique flavor. I don't know if they still have it or not, and even a few years ago it was only sold on premises.
