Anything to keep the troops happy! I'll also go along with "The Pub" - although I drink neither beer nor whisky (I keep the latter for medicinal purposes only;)). Now, if anyone's talking of decent red wines, then that's a different matter - as are Gin & Tonics!!

It looks like this has already been implemented, but I will add my vote!
And Ham, I love a good Merlot. I usually drink whites for casual drinking, but love to find a good, dusky dry Merlot for special occasions.

Red wines? Well when I hiked through Tuscany I fell in love with Super-Tuscan wines from the Sienese Chianti Classico region and for white wines, the Vernaccia from outside San Gimignano. The best part of that hiking tour was being able to go through a lot of wineries and see the process of how they pick the grapes, strip them from the stem (which they use to make grappa), and then process them for wine.

I think the Pub will be a great name for it. I've a funny feeling this will prove to be a very popular section.

Well I hate to throw a kink in the gears, but that won't be happening on this particular website. It isnt b/c I have a problem with alcohol and it isnt b/c I dont want it here. There just isnt room for it here.
So here is my plan. I would be willing to start an entirely new website dedicated to the flavorful (flavourful for our UK friends...) spirits which we love to enjoy. It costs just around $90 for a vBulletin license and a domain name. I will host it. Would those in favor be willing to donate to get the vBulletin license? If 12 people donate $8 we could do it. Those who donate will be given special titles and privledges on the new website.
If you like the sound of this I will set up a donation button through paypal.

I'd rather have it here, but I'll pony up for that.
Maybe you could have a Forum title on the page with all the rest, so that we "feel" like it's part of us, but have it be a link to this other board instead.
...and then have a small icon on each page to jump back to XMarks again - nothing intrusive, just something small to let members get back home quickly. That way people using only this other board from outside XMarks won't feel like they're the bastard children of another board.

Although I don't like being tied to too many boards I think I drink enough Scotch to make this of interest to me. Count me in. If we have the people willing to pitch in that is. I'll be first to toss in a few bucks. Let me know.

Count me in also! I love ales, single malts and really good gin. By the way Ham, have you tried the new gin (maybe not new to you) Hendricks? We just got in Pennsylvania, manufactured by Grants and made with a hint of cucumber! We add a few very thin slices of cucumber instead of lime and it makes for wonderful gin and tonic. :-D
