Kilt-loving nuclear physicist ...
Essentially a business article on an investor in Scotland, but it has an interesting bit about the kilt at the very end. It starts thus:
A Scottish fund manager, run by a trained nuclear physicist who has spent the past decade buying up large parts of one of Edinburgh's most prestigious squares, has emerged as a major shareholder in Wm Morrison, the troubled supermarket chain.
And ends:
"Almost from the start, we decided we should emphasise our Scottishness," he told Scottish Business Insider. "I discovered the value of this in the mid-'80s when I wore the kilt to address a heavy investment conference in the US.
"It made a clear impact just by being different from the five other suits on the podium. It's not a 100pc rule across the firm but more than half my colleagues wear the kilt when they visit clients."

Similarly, I've worn a kilt, jacket, & tie when manning a booth at an industrial trade show in Toronto. It definitely generated interest... Although I don't think it had much impact on the amount of business generated. It was a lot of fun though.
