X Marks the Pub
So a bunch of folks want a new place to talk about beverages, spirits, smokes, and whatnot.
We have decided to start a new forum called X Marks the Pub. Those who showed interest said they would be willing to donate to cover the costs of setting up a new forum so the link to do that is here:
www.xmarksthepub.com
As soon as we have the $$$ I will get the software and get cracking on getting the new forum online. If you do donate please put your X Marks username in the comments field of the checkout so I know who you are.
Thanks to all who plan to make this another successfull forum!
RUNNING TALLY: ( 9 ) $8 Donations for a total of $72

I just sent you the donation, but I never saw a "Comments" field; it just went straight to the "Checkout" page, and then the "Make your payment" page, but niether had a "Comments" field.

FYI, I just checked and the domain is registered and the URL active. Once there, you can click on a button to make a donation as well.

So does that make those subjects forbidden here?
I thought the whole X Marks Pub topic here was a great idea. A new forum seems like overkill. hmmm.

Nope, but there will only be one place to talk about them and that is the off-topic section. A new forum opens the discussion up to a whole new realm and also gives people who may not be interested in kilts a place to go as well.

The love around here just ooozes out of everywhere.
I probably won't go there, but that still didn't really address my comment, but nevermind. It doesn't matter.

Brian, I don't think that the new forum is over-kill. There just seems to be enough desire for this type of discussion board to set it up, that's all.
The problem with trying to have that type of forum section on this one is actually two-fold.
If somebody is looking for a pub-oriented discussion, they're not likely to be looking for it on a kilt-related board.
Secondly, additional forum sections in Off Topic starts to make that section of this board a bit top-heavy. We have to mind this is a kilt forum, first and foremost. If we start adding in extra sub-sections for every special interest, then we are diluting the original purpose of the kilt forum.
