I will check it out. For some reason, it is just the style and taste of the Califonias that I am not a fan of. Maybe it's just me, but for under $20 I can get a great bottle of BC red all of which have their own unique and distinct taste. I will check out the Sterling vinyards Vinter's collection Cab. Sav. though.

We did the wine tour a few years ago and I fell in love with a lot of the wineries. It seems that since that time we have a new winery open every other month around here. We have a really nice fruit winery near my place that is great for those hot summer days.

Of course I am still very partial to any Australian Cabernet Sauvinon or Shiraz. You also can't beat a cheap bottle of Greek or Portuguise wine with certain meals. Souvlaki and Tsantalis is still agreat combo

Unfortunately I don't get a lot fo wine at home as my wife seems to horde it. Her excuse is that she doesn't like the dark ales I make or the single malt I drink so the wine is hers. She was only to happy to share with Hamish, but if I looked that good in a kilt, I am sure I would get a glass or two. ;-)
Raph and Louise took us to a couple of your local BC wineries back in August, Colin, but I really couldn't assess the quality from those small tasting samples they pour out - I need a half bottle!! However, the only Canadian wines I have ever seen for sale over here in England were from Ontario - the Niagara area.

I have to agree that I find the Australian wines preferable to the Californian ones, on the whole - but maybe the price has something to do with that!!

Argentinian and Chilean wines are readily available here and they're quaffable but hardly quality, to my mind.

Yes, it was very kind and generous of Jill to share part of her 'hoard' with me, but I didn't realise it was the kilt that made it possible!! I shall remember that relaxed evening in your garden, Persid watching, for many years to come.

(PS: say "Hi" to Jill from me, please).

And maybe under the same general heading an X Marks Kilted Alcoholics Anonymous forum for those of us who loved it too much, had way more than our fair share and had to give it up...

Ron that is an underlying reason that I am making it a seperate website entirely. I have major respect for those who know they have or have had a problem and have the intestinal fortitude to eliminate the problem.

    Makes good sense Hank, thanks.

And, don't know that there are any on this board, but know that if someone thinks they might need to hang up the ol' mug there be folks here that understand and will be happy to help and direct them to local help wherever they live.

God love you social drinkers who can enjoy without getting hurt, arrested, or divorced. Have one for me

Next time I am in the UK, I will bring you a few bottles of the good stuff Hamish.

    Jill sends her regards.
