Where there's a will, there's a way. I am Norwiegian and Scottish and I married a beautiful Mexican girl who was born and raised in East Los Angeles California. She hadn't had that much to do with white anglos until she entered the work force and went to work in a hospital in Pasadena, Cal. Her parents are from Mexico as well as most of her elder relatives. Now here's where it gets good. I wear a Kilt! Talk about culture shock.
When I first introduced her to Highland attire she said; "You can't wear that here!", I said, "Watch me" She told me that I couldn't wear it 'there', I said "Watch me". Now I wear it anywhere I want to, whenever I want to and no one raises an eyebrow and even my mother-in-law loves the kilt and loves to show off her "Highlander". There is no barrier that cannot be overcome with the kilt. Every culture knows what it is and only the pitiful creatures that "...live in that grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat" have any problem with it.
My wife did however convince me to wear a Tuxedo for the wedding since many of her relatives were coming from all over the place and meeting me for the first time. What could I say?

    Chris.
