How did you first find XMarks?
So how did you first find or find out about XMarks?
My story: Hank posted a message on the Men In Kilts community on Livejournal in late January 2004 (Thanks, Hank!)
So was it by invite? Chance? Predestination?

I used to hang out at Tom's Cafe (before it went mainly freestyle) and saw a link to it there. Made the move to Xmarks and haven't looked back. :-D

The day after the forum went live (January 23, 2004) Hank posted an intro to the site on www.kiltmen.com
I signed up that day and have been here ever since. Some other kilt forums have remained, others have gone downhill in focus, and even newer ones are run so badly they aren't worth the time to visit.
Xmarks is my prefered spot on the internet.

I got the link from Toms and made the switch. It was just in time too, I was getting sick of the nonsense at Toms and was about ready to call it quits.

I met Magnus in some other website, also I know Colin from there, and I always heard them talk about XMarks, so after I got my first kilt I signed up at XMarks almost a year ago now.

I saw someone at some show and he invited me to check it out. I proceeded to tell him that I started it and the rest was history.....

Hehe...
I believe I was looking to see how much I should charge for the kilts I was making, a hobby that has fallen by the wayside as my son learned to walk and destroy things instead of happily gurgling on his blanket while I sewed and sang him songs.
Now I'm lucky if I look at the sewing machine and it's not in a pile of shiny pieces while he toddles away with the screwdriver and a manic giggle.
Must... teach... son... to sew.... it's the only logical solution!

It was some time after July 2004 while I was on my first tour in Baghdad. I think I was up late one night, just surfing the web about all things kilt related. I found some humorous Harry Potter stories, and some cool shops to spend money in, and then some how I ended up at xmarks. At the end of my day, I can go online and for a few hours, I can live in a place that is not Iraq.
