The frst 'kilt' I made was from very wide pair of corduroy trousers (using the ready made waist-band for solidity, and the extra material from the lower half of the legs to give scope for pleats).
I was pleased with the result, it hung quite well, but the aprons would not drop into place after standing up; the corduroy prevented the cloth form sliding smoothely, and it always remained askew.

This does not happen at all with good woolen worsted, and only slightly with other stiff cotton.

The tan corduroy looks really sharp. Can definintely be dressed up or down depending on how you feel and is amazingly comfortable. The red doesn't do anything for me at all.
