To kilt or to hike, canoe, kayak, canyoneer, etc. for 2 weeks in 2007? Sigh...it's mind boggling...
    Take the trip.

So it looks like everyone thinks I should take the trip..... LOL...well it's look like hiking in Switzerland or Ireland is going to be the trip of choice. I would do Costa Rica, but I think only the Utilikilts would hold up through the rainforests....

Well you know what I have to say: take the hike!

It sounds as though you're going on planned hikes - are they through a trekking company? Why don't you arrange a two-week hike of your own, and you'll probably end up paying less? Last year I hiked for five months in the U.S., and I only payed $150 every two weeks, on average. My budget for this year's five month hike (a different hike) is about the same, maybe a little higher (the trail is 500 miles longer).

Also, if you hike on your own you can choose to go wherever you want to, whenever you want to.

    Andrew.

Here's a thought - send ME the money - and you won't have any difficult choices to make! ;)

It is through a trek company I went with last year to Italy and they took REALLY good care of me and had some top notch accomodations for example, on a working vineyard in San Gimignano. We had plenty of opt out points during the day hikes so if we were tired and didn't want to do anything, they would take us back to the agriturismo or to the main city that was a short walk home.

I'm really more of a novice hiker so I don't know enough to trek out on my own for a while...

Some of My best trips were open ended pland trips. I went to Salzburg for two weeks did my research and wished I had a month or more. Take the trip..you can save for the Kilt. And keep on traveling it adds to your Knowledge and Life experiences. Then when you get older everyone will think you are full of *****.

OK, 646, I am meeting with Howie (TFCK) on Saturday so I'll let him know that you're delaying your order for the suit, shall I? ;);)

    Ham,
you might want to tell him to cancel the order all together- he wont be needing anything that fancy while hiking the hills of the Hinterlands

LOL well I'm still deciding. I am waiting to see what bonus check (if any) I get from the office so it's still a possibility. Of course, if he has one that he just wants to give me because I'm such a fun lovable guy that would be great but I'm not thinking that's gonna happen. Just tell him the guy organizing the big rugby tourney in the US is seeing what can be done on his end...Trust me I want it REALLY bad but $1100 for that is a lot of money to drop on the kilt suit....it is rougly $1100 right?
