Andrew's Sghian is really great...so low key and basic. Is it a rosewood handle?
I've seen Sghians like that and always wondered how nice they really were...hard to tell from internet photos just how good the materials used are. I thought that I'd wait until the next highland games and look at what the dealers bring with...it WOULD be nice if my family popped for a GENEROUS FATHER'S DAY PRESENT...hint...hint....
Till then I'm working on a "mod" to a stock boot knife that I've found...it's not dissimilar to the increasingly-harder-to-find mini-culloden but the modern material handle look right out of place...working on finding some thin leather straps to wrap it with. It seems that kilt-wearing and knife-fancying go hand in hand (at least among the members of this forum) so I'm very quietly sneaking this one past my wife...."...another knife? How many do you need?" ....can you ever have too many knives?
If I ever figure out how to get the Yahoo photo business working, I'll try to post some before and after photos.
Best

I don't have any details about my knife (maker, etc.), because I picked it up at the local kilt shop, and all it had attached to it was a price tag. I do know that the pommel cap is horn, and the bolster is ebony. It came unsharpened, and I ground down the edge myself, and now it has quite a nice edge on it.
I still need a dress sgian dhub, and I'm pretty sure I want one of Rab's creations in a damascus blade.
Andrew.
