What sad news, I only recently found (thru this site) the adverts and really enjoyed them.
If the guy is guilty then I feel sorry for him. Something must have gone haywire is his thinking.
As I read this thread I have just finished doing a sermon on the beauty of marriage...then I read this.
You may not agree with me, I feel for the guy somehow, he may have had a happy marriage once and now he's lost his way. Of course, I'm not unaware of the enormous damage done to the children in cases of child abuse of this kind.

Graham are sure your not a poet, you have the most empathy even though most people would tar and feather this guy you find something good to look at , I work with children with developmental disabilties and I know stories of some of these children that have been taken advantage of, to see this story read these threads it just makes me feel that we need to protect our children . Also if this man is guilty I hope he recieves the help he needs.

No, MacHummel, I'm not a poet, at least - not that I know-it.
As i said, the thread came just in the middle of thinking about right and wrong relationships, however, the children are really the innocent parties in this whole sordid porn industry. I certainly feel for the children.
Another thing too, I trust what I hear from the media less and less these days.
Let's see how it ends.

Do you think there really is help or a chance of rehabilitation for sex offenders? Especially ones involving children? It seems to me that every month we get a warning on the news of a sex offender being released and a public warning that he is very likely to re-offend. I wonder if there are actually cases of succesful rehabilitation.

The general population comment was in jest. I know that most sex offenders will be placed in solitary. This is usually due to the fact that every big bad criminals dispise people that commit crimes against children.

Wasn't it Pete Townsand that was charged with possesion a few years back and than proven innocent?

I knew it was in jest when I posted. My reply was for those not familier with prison conditions.

No.
The most you can realistically hope for is that they somehow learn to "control" the urges. When released back into society (at least in Washington) they are given restrictions to help reduce the temptation (no pornography of any type, no contact with children, no alcohol, etc.) However, except for the most predatory, they are not that closely monitored.

Sadly the rate of recidevism (return to illegal activities) for pedophiles is extremely high. It truly is something like a disorder that can't be reformed out of you. For their own good and for the good of society they simply should be confined to an adults only facility after their prison term is finished and allowed to lead as normal life as possible within the confines of the institution (rather like a quarantine of some kind). It's the only way to truly protect children.
And I feel that I must make a personal disclaimer here, for fear that someone would brand me as too cruel. My opinions are definitely affected by having been abused by a non-related adult when I was a child. Normally I have pity and can see the good in anyone, but I find it very difficult to be dispassionate about somone charged or convicted of a sex-crime involving a child or child-pornography.
