			A Plain Day

Today I spent the day working in my new RKilts work kilt, the evening I wore a Freedom Kilt to Scottish Country Dancing.
The lassies at SCD had never seen an FK before, they all made nice comments about it, they liked the buttons and the idea of a slash pocket. Best of all they liked the swish as I did a sharp turn, it was a wee bit embarrassing.

All this plain kilt stuff is pioneering material where I live, but I love it.
It can never be boring, each day and each new kilt brings new and interesting challenges and experiences.

At 15 kilts my wife thinks it's time to stop, boy do i have news for her!

Sounds like a good day Graham!
And as for your wife, just don't let her know how many you have and its not an issue when you get another!

The nice thing about plain kilts for dress up is that you can put a lot of flair and fun into your shirts and kilt hose and not worry so much about a clash with the tartan.
Of course, for work or knocking around, the plain kilts are just like a "bits free" version of jeans...

Ron, some of your shirt really would clash with tartans

Yes, Glen, it is fun, but so far I'm finding that plain kilts are a lot more work to wear. Tartans just slip on and that's it!

Too funny! I feel the exact opposite, even though I feel like tartans are more traditional. For me, plain kilts provide many more coordination options, usually have pockets so I don't need to worry about a sporran, and don't require flashes, so I can decide to wear my hose up or down based on my preference and the weather not fashion.

With a tartan I have to select a matching, but not competing, shirt. Then decide on belt, sporran to match the belt, shoes to match the sporran, right colored hose, kilt pin, etc., and I also have to worry about what I might get on the kilt while wearing it. I love both, but for me, the contemporaries are easier to wear and more like pants.

MacHummel, the RKilts kilt is very similar to denim, which I've also fancied.I think a denim kilt is a great idea, certainly better than the denim jeans that plagued my younger days!
