I do agree with longshadows on this. I really don't like it when people decide to grab a handful of fabric and pull it up to see what's underneath. I think it's very rude and disrespectful. I don't care if they are my friends or my rugby teammate or a stranger...there are certain limits that you just don't cross.

    First off, welcome to XMarks!

There's nothing remotely mysterious about what's under the kilt. Anyone who listened to the stories or seen the ads knows exactly what's under there. Looking is, no matter what, inappropriate.

Uh-huh.... and all these guys saying that a lady shouldn't this that or the other are missing the poing that a) she confirmed she couldn't see anything b) it's not that we're trying to actually look at your genitals (truth be told, the male genitalia is not picturesque, and c) this was a pretty rowdy crowd to begin with, by the poster's telling.

Just chill out and stop assuming all women have to act like pure-blooded royalty around men and totally mind their manners and never have a sense of humor- if you were that concerned about doing the proper and correct thing, you would be wearing a pair of pants lto fit in, yes?

See this is where I disagree. I don't assume that all women have to act like pure-blooded royalty but, comnig from Southern stock where this was drilled into me, manners do matter. I would never go up to a woman and lift up her skirt to see what's underneath and I would expect her to do the same thing. I would be highly offended (and pretty pissed off) if someone I didn't know came up to me and lifted up my kilt just so they could see what was underneath -- male or female. Rowdy are not, there are lines that you shouldn't cross. If you really want to know, why not just ask?

Easy Answer :I would knock his lights out! and worry about the consequences later. After all "he started the assault officer"
I was raised to never hit women. I can stick by that...

I'm not expecting women to act like royalty, but I do expect everyone to be held to the same legal and moral standards. Would it have been wrong for a man to attach a mirror to his shoe for the purpose (joking or not)? Yes, and probably would have landed the man in jail. And if someone tried to use any of your arguments to excuse his behavior they would be labeled a swine too.

That being the case, a woman should be held to the same standard. I'm not asking that women act like princesses. If a woman wants to watch a porn film while smoking a cigar and drinking a beer, I say more power to her. And if a woman wants to go to a nudie bar and shove dollar bills in some guy's thong, more power to her. Women should be allowed the same behaviours as men, but should also have the same limits.

It's time we started treating both sexes equally in a genuince sense, and acknowledge that a women can be just as much of a pig as a man. To try to make it sound as if it's not that bad because she's a woman is to actually relegate a woman to a lower standing. "We don't need to take her actions seriously because she's a woman." Why shouldn't we?

Can I just say that we've beat this horse to death, 3-4 times, already?

This always ends up being one of those threads that goes nowhere, no matter how many people add to it.

Different areas have different laws and different people have different ideas of what is right and wrong. Let's just accept that and move on. OK?

Sorry, I'm just a little annoyed today- something happened in Real Life that got my goat, I didn't mean to be so terse. Alright, back to the mirrors.

(PS-it's patent leather, and I loved that book!)

I'm sorry I didn't mean to jump on you. I hope I didn't make a bad day worse.
