Thumbs up 30 different kinds of pipes from all over Europe

For those piping lovers (even those as me that don't play it) I found this webpage that would be interesting. It shows photos and details of 30 different sorts of pipes from many European regions. There's almost every european corner from Galicia to Turkey with it's own old bagpipe representation. Enjoy it!

    Looks terrific!

I'll have to tell my friend, the Serbian Orthodox priest. He loves bagpipes, because they have them in Serbia. He attended our "Kirkin'" service, I think I mentioned earlier.

    Thumbs up

I got this album a couple of weeks ago. It is a good listen (well, maybe not the Tunisian tracks, but the rest of it) and .. dare I say it ... educational. We're all used to hearing Scottish and Irish pipes, and you can find Spanish pipe music fairly easily too, but when was the last time you heard Polish or Swedish or English pipe music.

My only complaint is that while while each track lists the country, type of pipe (for those blessed with more than one), and the name of the tune, there's nothing which pipes on the album cover correspond to which tracks. A minor complaint, I'll admit.

Wish I had burned a copy before coming to work; I really want to listen to it now. And tonight I have the supervisor who likes bagpipes, so I could have, too. Ah well.

I've met Sean Folsom numerous times and have been amazed by his pipes collection (larger than my own!). He's a great guy, a great musician and a lot of fun. If you have the chance to see him, you'll not just be enthralled but educated as well.

Very interesting. I didn't that pipes could make such a variety of music.
