As I've stated elsewhere, I'm also an on-the-thigh wearer. The "bounce factor" is the primary reason, plus, having only a Freelander, with those 8" long tie cords whipping around, the bounce factor turns into the whip factor when I get moving!
I do tend to move it to the center when I sit, to take advantage of the sporran's convenient ability to protect one's modesty!
