Also, "The Hasty Heart", a movie set after the Second World War with a Scottish soldier as the main character, is one I like. "Tunes of Glory" is my favourite, though.
"Touch not the cat bot a glove."

I love "shoebox zoo" Jason Connery is good in that and the little lass who plays Marnie Macbride is good as well. nice Edinburgh location shots. check out the new "Rebus" with Ken Stott more Edinburgh locations
My favourie Scots film is "Gregorys girl", amazing Nostalga trip and some location shooting at Cumbernauld shopping centre as well! a building so bad the locals are demanding its demolition!

I saw one last week that I thought was quite enjoyable. It's not specifically about Scotland or Ireland though. It is a ghost story/mystery called "Half Light", starring Demi Moore. It was filmed on an Island in Northern Wales.

My wife and I saw that one about a month ago, definately one of or maybe the best that Moore has ever done and worth the watch. But I'd love to know the translation of some of the whispers were.

I have to assume that, given the list already, we actually mean movies based in or around the England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. If that is the case here is my list:
Braveheart
Rob Roy
King Arthur
Timeline (some scots in there)
Mrs Brown
Dear Frankie
Formula 51
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrells
Snatch
Boondock Saints (Irish charactors)
the Matchmaker
Michael Collins
Mean Machine
Trainspotting
Waking Ned Devine
The Quiet Man
The Commitments
In the Name of the Father
The Boxer
My left foot
Secret of Roan Inish
Angela's Ashes
Harry Potter (all of them)
Love Actually
About a Boy
Notting Hill
The Big Tease
I'll be There
Saving Grace
So I married an Axe Murderer (Heid....down....now)
Men with Brooms (ok, it's Canadian but there are pipes, curling, and a kilt in it)
The Beautiful Game
more to come, I need to think here.......
