That's a difficult site to try and skim over to understand what they are about.

So do they not like Americans wearing kilts? or what's their issue?

I could however see a need to adjust the names to be merely a representation of the regiment rather than the actual name.

Its a site where serving and retired members of HM's British Forces hang out. Its not an anti-American thing (or Septics, or Spams, as you boys are known by HM's Forces). Remember, as I said, that particular thread died VERY quickly. Brits, especially in the Army, are leery of those who emulate their histories. The term Walt is used, referring to Walter Mitty.

Why not leave out specific regimental names and just use "Highlanders" or "Tartan Terrors" or similar?

Your right Graham. After chewing on this thru the day, I was thinking how I would feel if a bunch of guys created a tema called "U.S. Marines" or "Cavscouts" and I would expect them all to be linked to that service in some way. Definitely no the case here.

I had a Drill instructor in Boot Camp who shared some profound words with us once... "Good initiative Devil Dog...Poor Judgement" I find I say these words to myself every now and then.

I've been inspired by the Olympics to suggest alternate names for the teams. America has the "Flying Tomatoe" and some one else has "the Speeding White Sausage". We may claim something along the lines of "Rageing Haggis".

Thanks for working thru this with me.

"Raging Haggis" has a certain ring to it. The simpler the better.
