I dont see why not. It is about raising money, right? What better way to attract attention than a guy in a kilt, ah? People at least will be curious. Good luck!

Well it all comes down to the big boss man and which person I am working with that night. I wanted to wear my green UK mocker with a nice Hugo Boss blazer at the Tony Awards and he wouldn't let me do it but hopefully now that Tonya has seen me in the Royal Stewart with the sporran things will change. Maybe I'll bring it with me so he can see it....Katie Couric woudl love it I bet...

If it's a black tie affair I don't see why wearing a kilt & a full Prince Charlie outfit wouldn't be more than appropriate.

If you're there as staff then you don't want to draw more attention to yourself then you have to. I wear my black watch in that sort of situation because the colors are so dark it doesn't attract attention. My ancient Caledonian is much dressier and colorful and is like waving a flag every time I move. I thnk you may have a better chance of wearing a kilt a second time if you don't make a spectacle of yourself the first time. Just a thought.

    Those are my thoughts also.

it shouldn't matter wether new york or not the kilt is still not looked upon as acceptable for a man to wear therefore you don't what a ton of attention. its sad that it isn't accepted but it is slowly get more and more appropirate and hopfully by the time i have kids that it will be respected by all.

I agree with Planpiper sometimes you have to ease people into things like wearing a kilt as part of you work uniform. When I started at the highschool I work at I started out wearing my Scottish National only on special occassions, then slowly I intergrated my kilt wardrobe into my normal work attire. Now I wear my other tartans and some of my self colour kilt I still working on making it more acceptable to wear them everyday, but alest three days out of the school week I kilted.FOR NOW
