Family ring. Tradition started by my grandfather. Boys get one when they graduate from high school, girls get a pendant. Wives get a pendant after they have been married long enough that it looks like they'll keep the family name.
You'll note that the image shows a left hand because it is a sealing reang.

Mine is the Scottish Borderland tartan. It's the tartan of my one and only tank, chosen because my family came from the Borders and because I like it.
My wife and daughters have matching sashes. I have decided that it is our clan tartan. Now, I just need to convince everyone who shares my surname, the world over.
