First Stillwater

After many months of trying to convince my wife that there are kilts other than the standard tank, she read some of the posts concerning Stillwater Kilts and agreed to let me "try" one of their kilts. I ordered the 2006 Nightstalker and it arrived this past Saturday. It is an incredible kilt for the price and the fabric is very nice. I tried it on and Brenda approved so it passed muster

I can't say enough about working with Stillwater and getting the kilt. Both experiences were very pleasant. Since Brenda has been reading the posts here, I should be able to get more kilts other than the standard tank. I really do appreciate all the help you guys & gals gave me even though you weren't aware of helping.

Now if only I could find a forum like X Marks the Ferrari

Congrats on your new SWK. I wear a economy gordon around town but I did sew down the Pleats at the hipsfits and looks better. Machine stiched and it did not take much time. I have been wanting the Nightstalker™ Kilt but I will have to wait. Controooool Controooool

Congrats on the Stillwater! I wear the Blackwatch Standards daily at work. They've become part of my "uniform".

I just got exactly the same kilt for hiking and general knocking around, and I was considering sewing down the tops of the pleats as well.
Did you run a line of stitches down the length of the pleat or did you just tack
it at the hip line?

My first (and until today, if UPS comes as tracked) my only kilt is a SW Std. Bw--great kilt. Wore it yesterday (check my picture under New Pics). Can't say enough about Jerry and the folks at SW. They have a good product for a very reasonable price and they are fast in shipping!

I have two Stillwater standard kilts, a Hunting McLeod and a prototype Gordon. I love them!! I'd order a Black Stewart and a Nightstalker from them as well but my wife doesn't like those tartans. That may not be a bad thing, considering the state of my finances right now. :rolleyes:

I have 6 SWKs, 1 black heavyweight, and 5 standards. Stillwaters are great. The standards are about 6- 8 yards, and, 10 oz per square yard, which puts them into the same class as a traditional lightweight wool. My black heavyweight is 8 yards of acrylic, and 13 oz per square yard, which puts it into the class of a traditional middle weight wool. The 16 oz wool Black Watch that are is now available is pretty much like a tank.

For an off the rack kilt, SWKs, in my opinion, are the closest thing to a traditional style kilt that is taylored. Your can't beat the price and service.

I just got my first Stillwater too, today in fact. It is a Mcleod Hunting and it is just superb!

I ran the stich line down the hip about 6". I don't have it in front of me but I had my wife mark where the tailbone was and I machine stiched all the pleats.
