Well, now you've done it! The MacLaren Weathered tartan hanging in my closet is calling out to me, "Make me, make me into a kilt as nice as Robin's." Do I give in to the siren call of the needle and waxed thread? or, do I suppress addiction's demands and knock out a half-dozen fur sporrans first? Whoever Jones is, or wherever he's from, he now lives with me full-time...

Great looking kilt - wear it often and with as much flair as the tartan displays.

Robin, I love it. As you say the colours will change with the light. The flash would have washed it out a bit.I would also like to see your choice of colours for shirt and socks. Great one mate.

Yup, that's the tartan I have. It's heavyweight stuff, so I'll probably make a 5 or 6 yard kilt instead of an 8 yard one.

Nothing wrong with a full 8 yards 16oz kilt, when you're used to poly/cotton or light weight wool, 16oz might sound like a medieval suit of armor, but it's very comfortable. It doesn't feel heavy when you wear it...not at all.

With 8 yards you have the ultimate swoosh/swing...and it's something special...a truckload of deep pleats. They move when you move, it's a sensation really.

When you have enough fabric to make 8 yards...go for it, you'll love it!
