    Kilted Cops in Germany

A friend sent this link. I'm not sure we need this kind of publicity...

man...and unfortunately, there's all the drunk scotsman jokes, as well as the fact that half the kilt-wearing population owns a Guiness Shirt...

I think drinking and the kilt will always be associated...

Well, let them think what they want. Don't be a drunk, show 'em that kilted men can be gentlemen.

Just goes to show you even cops can do stupid stuff. But I would have loved to have been there.

They were at a fancy dress party, so they were off-duty.

Funny story, though I don't condone drunkeness.

It's also funny how ppl will party it up for Carnival, then somehow forget about Lent.

Well if they were representing the police department at the event then yes, they should face punishment. There's never really an excuse in my opinion to do something like that sober or not...then agian maybe that's just my Southern upbringing....

I heard that they were off duty. This is actually pretty tame stuff for what the Germans call 'fashung" (spelling?) but I guess it made the news because it was coppers doing the deed.

Well, since I am a cop, I feel I need to at least say something. They were off duty, which lessens the actions a little, but not by much. I think they were out of line no matter what profession they are in. Just bad manners. Not something they should be terminated for, but certainly some discipline. As a supervisor, their intoxication in public and arguement with collegues would actually concern me more.

And, that is why I do not go "regimental" when I wear a kilt in my home town. Too good of a chance I will encounter a stiff wind, a small child, or an intoxicated, curious bar patron. My town is only 30,000 people, so I can't go anywhere without someone knowing who I am. If the apron does not lay correctly, I have an extra layer of protection.

In regards to kilted on duty........my shins and knees would look like raw hamburger after one weekend. I get into a wrasl'n match at least once every three shifts. Already had one this weekend, and it's Friday, aka my Monday.

Being a cop doesn't seem to mean much anymore. Here in Los Angeles they have discovered gang bangers on the LAPD and I just heard this week that a few of them were busted doing mid-night burglaries while in uniform and wearing a badge. Now what will we do? If I need help I can't even call a hippie since they're ancient history...
    Wuddiya gonna do?

    Chris.
