"Weathered" tartans are pretty brown if the tartan is dominanted by green in the modern colors, because they replace green with khaki. If there's a lot of blue in a kilt, the dominant color is a slate blue-gray, because they replace the blue with a slate blue-gray. Red is replaced with a dull clay red.

That's good to know, I was starting to get worried! I ordered mine on the assumption that I was seeing brown!

I was a bit perplexed myself and I could find no references in any searches. So I asked the man himself. Too quote:
"This is a "weathered" variant, it is brown, dark gray and light gray."
I should know for sure by this time next week since I ordered one this morning.
