Thats one I haven't positively I.D'd yet. It's not as dark as it looks. It's a medium weight kilt by Geoffry Taylor that I picked up at an estate sale.
    Here's a better pic:

I'm pretty sure that is Cameron of Erracht.

Yeah, it does look a lot like this tartan of the the 79th (or Cameron of Erracht) tartan. I found several other Cameron of Erracht tartans, like this one that look nothing like it.

Never seen the second one before, but the first is THE Cameron of Erracht tartan. An article on Scottish military tartans on the Scottish Military Historical Society's web site has this to say about it:

The 79th, later to become the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, raised in 1793 by Alan Cameron of Erracht, was unusual by using a tartan from formation in no way associated with the universal pattern. It is, however, a purely regimental tartan invented for the 79th and not a clan tartan. lt was designed with the help of Alan Cameron's mother and is usually referred to as Erracht tartan, being quite different from the Cameron tartan as such.
The first web site, btw, was done by a friend of mine, Dean Foster, a WWII reenactor and collector of Scottish militaria.

    Cheers,

    Todd

    Thumbs up

Thanks for the I.D, I'm pretty sure now thats what it is.Once I had a name I could narrow it down. The Tartan I.D at Kiltstore has several variations.A lot of the colors in a tartan are difficult for me to see.

It's a good looking tartan, I'd wear it.
