    Glenlivet Honors Nominees

The Glenlivet Honors Academy Award(R) Nominees With Scottish Dress
Tuesday February 28, 12:04 pm ET Men of the Moment to Receive Bespoke Kilt From World-Renowned Kiltmaker

NEW YORK, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- It is customary for women to be the center of attention during Oscars® season, as actresses are showered with everything from jewels and dresses to make-up and spa weekends. This year, The Glenlivet will focus on male actors, heralding the achievements of Academy Award® Best Actor nominees with a bespoke kilt of the finest quality by Kinloch Anderson, tailor and kiltmaker to the Queen of England, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales.

"As the saying goes, 'a man in a kilt is a man and a half,'" says Jim Cryle, Master Distiller of The Glenlivet. "It's one of the most timeless and dramatic symbols of Scotland that befits the outstanding achievements of this year's Best Actor nominees. I speak from experience when I say that I feel more confident and powerful whenever I wear a kilt."

Traditionally, the kilt was worn in battle in the Highlands, but now it is commonly seen on celebratory occasions such as galas and weddings. "We hope that the nominees will accept the kilt as a sincere gesture of respect and congratulations - and maybe even show up on the red carpet wearing them," says Andrew Nash, Brand Director of The Glenlivet. A full outfit including the kilt, jacket, sporran, ghillie brogues and all other accessories will be custom-made for Philip Seymour Hoffman, Terrence Howard, Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix and David Strathairn to celebrate their nominations.

The Glenlivet is imported by Pernod Ricard USA®. Pernod Ricard USA® is a leading producer and distributor of premium spirits and wine in the U.S. and a unit of Pernod Ricard, the world's second largest spirits company. Drawing on the heritage of its brands and a decentralized structure that allows close collaboration with customers, Pernod Ricard USA has built a comprehensive portfolio of prized brands in a variety of fast-growing categories, 10 of which are top 100 international premium spirits. Thumbs down Kilt free Oscars

Well, I watched the Oscar red carpet pre-show, and most of the actual show, (had to stop for The L Word at 9) but as far as I could tell, Glenlivet wasted their money on that deal! No kilts at the Oscars that I could see.

Actually I did see one guy at the awards show kilted -but only caught a glimpse of him during the preshow crap with Joan & melissa Rivers. he was dressed to the nines in a Prince Charlie/vest & kilt. didnt get enough of a look at him to see what tartan he might have been wearing- will report back after i have scanned thru on the TiVo to his appearance.
