I'm throwing my hat into the NO-TUCK corner as well. I've tried to imagine a vest tuckedin and it just doesn't seem right.

    cost down

I agree with the no tuck theory, which is already pretty well covered. But I also would like to help you with the cost part of the vests. I got a nice black vest with a back from a local tuxedo place that sells them after thier rental days are over. I think I paid $10 for it, I was also lucky enough to get a waist coat from them for $60, but if that isn't needed, the vest that you can pick up from a tux shop is great. This place has a lot of tuxedo itemshttp://www.uniformalwearhouse.com/apages/servests1.html, they are not as cheap as I got my vest, but still pretty good

I too am in the no tuck camp, for my own personal reasons. I think it just looks better.

Thanks for the opinions. With all that's been said, I think I'll have the guys in the traditional kilts with vests outside (that should also save them from having to get a belt). Probably black, with my best man in something different, with solid ties to match their kilts (all will be in different tartans).

As for the gents in greatkilts, though, because of all the gathered fabric I still think it may be better for the vest to be inside, either that or we'll have to make them vests that'll work with the greatkilt.
