The pipe band that I play in (the Mohawk Valley Frasers) is also named for the 78th Frasers Highland Regiment of Foot that built Fort Stanwix west of Oriskany here in the Mohawk Valley.
I've pasted a jpeg of the print below. If anyone is interested in purchasing it, it's available from several web sites (e.g., http://www.lordnelsons.com/gallery/f...iffing/33.htm). The artist is Robert Griffing and the title is "Warriors".

I've looked at this and was curiose about the clothing worn. What can those you who are into re-enacting and history tell me about the kilt, coat etc. worn by both men in the painting?
I'm planning on getting an outfit together that would be worn in the mid 18th to early 19th century on the eastern frontier. I'm doing a lot of research on this and any input is appreciated.

There's a really great little book by Stuart Reid and Mike Chappell called 18th Century Highlanders that talks a lot about what was worn by the Highland regiments in the colonies.
Here's the link at Amazon:

If you go to the Amazon link, it says 22 new and used from $9.28. I've had very good luck with Amazon's vendors.

Cool! It's a really nice little book, My absolute favorite picture (which is also on the cover) is of a Highlander in the 42th Highlanders in North America in 1762 wearing kilt and reg issue jacket plus Iroquois-style leggings, moccasins, and pouches. Ever pratical, adopting what works in the setting!

I also recommend the Stuart Reid book that Barb mentioned. Another good source is his: Highlander: Fierce Celtic Warriors (London: Pub. News Ltd. : Military Illustrated, 2000.)
I'll see what else I can find in the library this evening!
Cheers,
