Okay...From the context of what was written, your statement seemed as if it might be directed at me personally. Thank you for clarifying this...maybe I've not had enough coffee yet this morning (or maybe too much)...

Say, I think I hear a diesel engine running outside...no wait, it's just my imagination. Dammit.

I get a lot of stuff delivered from product distributors for my company and that makes me quite lucky. I've gotten to know the UPS and FedEx guys in this area pretty well. That means that they've always been extra-good to me. They seem to always take time to say hi to my dog (UPS guy even brings her treats) and they even help get the packages inside where I need them if the boxes are heavy since they know I'm handicapped. Great bunch of guys. Of course, they also like that I give them a personal Christmas gift (cash) every year too. I don't mind giving a little extra for extra good service.

I've never had any problems with the delivery of either FedEx or UPS. I get enough packages from either one and I can't see any difference in their service. My only gripe with FedEx is the way they handle customs charges. I don't have any experience with UPS from overseas, so I can't comment on that.

    Glassman,

This is my experience locally, but only with the UPS. My usual delivery man is named Greg and he is well-aware of my current physical woes (he delivers my medications as well) and he always goes way out of his way to be kind, friendly and helpful (he also brings bigger packages into my house for me). My dogs are always excited to see him which is great since he's a dog owner as well, and he's been nothing short of exceptional in performing his job.

My experiences with FedEx? Quite the opposite...I buy a lot of things online and usually have them delivered via USPS or UPS. I've even gone out of my way to buy something I've found online elsewhere because of the seller's use of FedEx. Locally, I'm damn lucky if a package from FedEx makes it on to my front porch (which is enclosed). I have made multiple written requests and phone calls to FedEx requesting that any package delivered by them be put on my front porch; 90% of the time that just doesn't happen. I've even found packages sitting outside on the steps in the pouring rain...but, seriously:
How @#$%!! hard is it to open a door and set the package on the porch floor? From my experiences, I'll always recommend the USPS or UPS...FedEx has never made a good impression on me.

To get back on topic here...it's 11:30 am EST and no kilt.

Wouldn't it be nice if packages had GPS tracking built in?

That's a growing practice in shipping these days...my fiance is the Sales Administration Supervisor for a northeast trucking company and they implement this capability on everything they ship.
