    Giving Tree Shoppe

Anyone ever buy a kilt from the Giving Tree Shoppe on e-Bay. $49 for a $169 retail kilt, what's up with this.

Nope never bought from them...I *have* bought from West Highland Kilts (http://stores.ebay.com/WEST-HIGHLAND-KILTS) and have gotten items that were shipped on Monday in the UK at my apartment by Saturday. Exellent service and good quality products.

My mother purchased one of their Royal Stewart kilts for me as a present. She's on a fixed income so even at the price it was a big gift from her.

I wear it when I'm working in my studio and don't want to damage my real kilts. It's of a rather poor quality acrylic. When it arrived it already had pulls and needed shaving to get rid of the piles. The pleats are sewn down to the fell so it looks more skirtlike than kiltlike. It has no reverse pleat on the rightside, no fringe on the apron, and is extremely lightweight. It's great for chores around the house and stuff, but I'd never wear it out where people might see me.

This is a case where you get what you pay for. For the amount my mom paid for it, it's good. But it's not something I'd buy myself. I'd say spend just a bit more money and get a Stillwater or a USAK casual/philabeg. You'll be a lot happier with your purchase.

Yes she did. Mom got it through that exact eBay store. The seller was kind enough to ship directly to me to save on shipping costs so I saw the eBay invoice the seller included in the package.

So, could you elaborate on the quality of the stuff from WestHighlandKilts? I see wool and Hunting Stewart (or stewrat as I seem destined to misspell it....hmmmmmm...stewrats...yum!). I dearly love my USAK Hntng Stwrt casual but warmer would be nice here in Chicago. Is the material nice? Lining aequate? Lines of the tartan lined up nicely?

    Best

The material is very nice (at least in my opinion) and it has a nice heft to it as well. I have a MacKenzie and MacDonald from them that fit VERY well. I'll see if I can get some pictures done tonight and I'll post them for you to see...

That's quite a lady that you have for a mother, never let an opportunity pass to tell her how much you appreciate what she's done for you or someday you'll be sorry that you didn't.

Has anyone had any recent dealings with West Highland Kilts?
