After my wife has gone to bed, I'll scan a picture of her in a grey Stewart kilted skirt. I love it, and my first kilt will be grey Stewart. I can see myself wearing it in sport-jacket-and-tie attire. I am planning on having a 8-9 yard woolen grey Stewart kilt made this year, but AFIK the only way to get the fabric in a decent weight is to have a custom run. Let me know if you want to get in. Fraser and Kirkbright have a 30 yard minimum, which is rather daunting. The kiltmaker I intend to use says she can get 10 yard custom runs out of Scotland.

BTW, the eBay auction #5467364358 shows the tartan.

Here we go. This picture shows my wife in grey, my mother in black, and my uncle and aunt in dress Stewart. (Dad's in black, as is my brother's necktie. My necktie is dress Stewart. But you can't see any of that.)

If your Stewart kilt is pleated to stripe, it does not necessarily have to be excessively red. It depends where on the stripe the fabric is folded. Kathleen's grey skirt is pleated to stripe and just shows a pleasing hint of red.

We stumbled over Kathleen's skirt in a gift shop in Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. It looks fabulous.

Hey Cinnabar, great to see you building a wish list. That Stewart/Stuart grey is a handsome tartan.

I was part of that Thomson Gray USA Kilt rush. Here's pics of my semi-traditional. Hope they come out for you.

Does anyone see the pictures in Ron post? I see the code in the quote here, while I'm typing, but no pictures are coming up on my screen.

I appreciate the fact that this is not a Stewart tartan, but it is grey and is beautiful. It's name? "Grey Thistle Dubh" from Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd. of Edinburgh :

    I'm lovin' it!!

several of the mills are starting to weave grey on grey (ghost check) and black/white/grey tartans. HOE just come out with 4 more... Balmoral Mist, Balmoral Cairn, Balmoral Grey and Balmoral Claret (last one has a bit of maroon in it too).

MM Has a few new ones as well.

And go figure, Utilikilts offered solid gray mockers and they didn't sell, but switched to heather gray and they are selling.

I never much wore gray Dockers or jeans, but I wore a lot of gray suits back in my corporate years. Go figure.

Ham, you've extended my wish list by one more kilt. Very nice tartan.
