As the owner of two freelander sporrans I can also only recommend them!

To answer your question about Buzz Kidder's Rob Roy sporran, though, yes it is a very roomy sporran. I wear a brown one as my everyday sporran, and it easily holds my wallet, my car/house keys, my work keys, my cell phone, some loose change, a tube of chap stick, various little reminders and notes I have to write to myself, etc. Sometimes I can even squeeze my checkbook in there, but as I have a fairly thick tooled leather checkbook cover, it tends to be a tight fit with everything else.

It's got easily three times as much space as your standard sporrans do. We retail them in at the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop and usually have a good supply in stock:

The Country sporrans also have as much room as the Rob Roys but not quite as fancy a look.

    Aye,
    Matt

I will echo Matt's comments, but applied to the Country Sporran instead. It is my most worn sporran and holds a fair amount of stuff. I also like its simple design and it can be dressed up or down pretty easily (not formal of course).

I do plan on getting a Freelander some day though.

I also have the Country Sporran, it is soft and has lots of room in it, I wear it with the braided leather sporran strap made by Robert at Rkilts for day wear, they make a nice combination.

So, just out of curiosity, so folks will know, what are the measurements of the BK Rob Roy and Country sporrans?

Not for a "mine's bigger than yours" contest, but so folks will know before they buy. Seems fair.

I'll measure mine tonight Ron, unless someone beats me to it.

It does hold a lot, but I do question how much some people put into it. It will hold a lot, but I don't put as much as it will hold because I don't like having to unload half the items just to find the one I want (too spoiled from multiple pockets in my jeans I guess ).

The Country Sporran is 7 1/2" high, 7 1/2" at it's widest, and about 1 1/2" deep. The mouth is about 6" wide. It sort of oblong shaped. The leather is very flexible, so some stuffing is possible as it will bulge out quite a bit.

Here is the picture from Buzz Kidder's site:

I like its simple design as it can be worn sith about anything.
