Rain ?

Remembering back to a hike in California 30 yrs ago, my brother an I wearing jeans, and it starts raining. We were going over a pass that still had a good amount of snow covering it (even though it was the middle of summer) and because of the way the jeans just soak up the water, my brother ended up with a bad case of chills.

Jeans can be great in some ways, but get them wet, and they are cold, heavy, and extremely uncomfortable! (You'd never want to be unbifurcated more than when you're wearing soaking wet jeans........talk about chaffing!!!)

I'm looking forward to what has become our annual camping trip to Minnesota this year...we always meet up with a family from Minnesota who have become our camping buddies and the dad is a very experienced camping afficianado...knows all of the tricks and whatnot. He always looked askance at me because I have always worn jeans...I don't even wear shorts when I'm out there - it could be 95 degrees - I don't wear shorts. He himself has some weird looking but camping appropriate pants that he always wears...But THIS year! THIS year....this year I'm wearing the kilts! My buddy will almost certainly take this as "one-upsmanship"...so he'll HAVE to find some way to trump me the next year...this ought to be fun.

Yet another of the many advantages of the kilt.....
