two confessions
1. I like off white/cream kilt hose.
........and I hate my black hose. I really like the sort-of-oatmeal hose I got from Hamilton Dry Goods, though, and will be buying a gray pair from them.
Anybody else here like off-white dress hose? I don't think they look out of place or "wrong" at all, but my tastes have been formed quite recently. Pure white hose, like my rugby socks are a bit glaring, but cream.....not to my eyes.
2. I've been outrageously busy at work and between department politics, budget reallocations and ***insert politically incorrect rambling here*** Department Director, I will be jobless in six to ten weeks. So I haven't felt like, nor had much time to post. I review the threads several times a week, though so I'm staying in touch.

So sorry to hear you've got problems with work.
Sometimes these things just happen to be great oppertunities. Hope it all works out for you.

Also sorry to hear about your job.
I do like cream dress hose, although I do like black hose for casual wear.

1. I too like white/cream colour hose. I have two pairs of white, which I wear quite often.
2. As for your job, no worries, good things will happen.

I'm sorry too to hear about your job problems.
I like off-white/cream hose. I don't like white. To me, there's nothing at all wrong with off-white, and I don't really have any desire to get another color at the moment (though I may get gray or green at some point).

Shoot, I've taken to wearing (white) soccer socks for everyday use. $7 for six pairs at Target. I'm a cheap bastard, what can I say?

Gosh Alan - I'm sorry to hear about your job woes - but its like they say, when one door closes another door opens...
Now I have a confession... when no one is home I pull down all the blinds, play some Enter the Haggis real loud and dance around the house in pure white pipers hose with popcorn tops - ok so that's a lie - but I thought it might bring you a chuckle.
I prefer oatmeal hose but own one pair of off-white hose for when I feel like dressing up a bit.
Take care young man!

I love my hamilton dry goods off-white hose also. For $8.00 you won't find a better looking sock. I do typically wear a short foot sock under it to keep the cotton threads from being uncomfortable though. My next set will be the wool to see if they are able to be worn solo.
My first sock was a black soccer sock which I thought looked ok, but I prefer the cream and oatmeal or stone.
Best of luck on finding the next place intended for YOU. Wisdom and grace to you and your wife. I'm sure your wife will provide cherished support.

Kilt Hose
Somehow I have wound up with three pair of off white/cream colored kilt hose, and I like them the least. Too bright for me. I have a pair of lovat green that go well with my blackwatch, navy blue that I wear with with my Black Stewart, and oatmeal that I really like because I can wear them with a matching sweater that I have with any of my kilts.
I've been unsuccessful in finding black kilt hose from somewhere here in the states. I need them for my Nightstalker. Can someone tell me the best place to order them from?

The Celtic Croft has black kilt hose for $20.00. Look under "Color" under the "Quality Kilt Hose."
