See, I knew that it was likely my next kilt wold come from Robert. A hemp kilt sounds perfect for the whole year here, except the dead of winter, and still able to handle the trips back to see family in FL.

And the best part is you can grow your kilt at home. Just put some grow lights in the closet and your good to go.

The Indian Hemp variety used for paper grows to 20/25 ft high in an English summer - or so I have been told.
I don't think the excuse that you were growing it for kilt making would get you off if you were found with feeble but highly perfumed plants growing in tropical temperatures.
The cloth should be seriously hard wearing - as long as the cotton growers don't hear about it and send the boys round to persuade people that growing/wearing hemp cloth is bad for the health. There is serious money in cotton.

If anyone out there has or purchases a Hemp kilt, let us know. I'd like to know what this fabric is like.

Robert speaks encouragingly about hemp and is sending a sample and I'll let you know when the kilt arrives.

Hi Grahm,
I've also been looking for a work kilt and had pretty much decided on a UK Workman but believe I shall hold off ordering until you conclude your testing, especially on the hemp kilt.

If a kemp kilt has similar qualities to the 3 kemp shirts I have, I'd be all for it! I bought 3 kemp shirts last year from a local sports & camping goods store & frankly, they're my favorite shirts - very comfortable, durable & while they do wrinkle a little (more so when they were new), they wrinkle far less than 100% cotton. Add that to the ecological & health reasons already mentioned by Pleater & Robert &... well, I'm convinced that (cue the music) what the world needs now, is hemp, sweet hemp...

Graham,
You did not specify if you want tool hanger straps, pockets for specific tools, or any other modifications.
Would a Cargo Model Freedom Kilts with Straps and buckles(vs buttons), Side Slash & Cargo pockets work or do you need something added?
