Yah, that's military pleating...there's another term for it, I think, but I saw a few like that at the Scottish Tartans Museum, I do believe. Heavens, I can't imagine the pain of pressing that sucker.

    Military Box Pleat

I think that Bubba has one exactly like that and had mentioned it in his posts a while back. He got it from What Price Glory I believe. He can probably tell you more about it than I can though. I like it for being a warm kilt but unfortunately not economically(sp?) a good idea for me considering the amount of fabric it would take for my big butt.

Found the link to the thread with Bubba's WPG kilt and pic of the pleats.

Yup, I have a Cameron from What Price Glory. It's military box pleating and, yeah, it swishes better than a horses tail during fly season. Great cold weather kilt but I sure ain't gonna wear it above 50 F.

Now all we need is the pleat name.

Cameron of Erracht, the regimental tartan of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. In 1961, they were amalgamted with the Seaforths to form the Queen's Own Highlanders, and then amalgamated again with the Gordons in 1994 to form The Highlanders.

    Cheers,

    Todd

Technically a roll pleat, but the Regiments who use it simply call it box pleat. Seen them before (Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa) but never took a good look. C'mon, I'm not into staring at soldier's butts.

Thanks. You guys are great. I joined the forum some months after that thread, and missed it. Do you know how hard it is to do a search on this site with keywords like pleats, knife, box, etc?

I think it's called a roll pleat. What's the tartan by the way? Looks great.
