There is a thread somewhere around here where I asked the same question. The PV is from MM but going thru a supplier.

    Hey Mc,

If you're gonna order your "gang colors" clan tartan, do yourself a favor and spring for the semi-traditional. Its worth it when it comes to blood.

Thanks for the advice, Riverkilt. Down the road I'd like to have a custom 8 yard wool kilt in one of the Macmillan tartans.

I'm attracted to the casual because I want something for hiking this summer - something for some hot weather that will most likely get pretty dirty. Something with greens or blues or browns seems like a better option that a kilt with yellow at this point.

    Hmm...So many tartans...so little time...

Still looking for a pic of a MacMillan tartan kilt

Boy, I'm still looking for a pic of this tartan in a kilt too...the swatches just don't show it well. Would be cool to see a photo of a finished kilt.

Thinking about getting a MacMillan tartan kilt in honor of my 5 great grandfather John MacMillan who came over from Edinburgh in the mid 1700s...but just can't make the switch from swatch to finished kilts.

Searched the site again, with no luck.

Sure would like to see a pic of a MacMillan tartan kilt...the tartan Rocky sells...the hot yellow and red tartan would be a trip but it'll be a while before I can afford another hand sewn what with my RAF in the works.

    If this is any help...

We usualyy end up pleating it to the black stripe in the gold. It gives flashes of black when you walk and the back looks VERY different from the front.

Thought I saw a post where Matt said this was an asymetrical tartan and difficult to pleat?...or maybe it was another MacMillan tartan?

Still wondering if anyone has pics to share of theirs....

the MacMillan Black is a regular symetrical tartan... not sure about other MacMillans though.
