Irish kilt in New York?
Well, I won't claim to know if this is an authentic "Irish" kilt, but it does look "safron." (This was taken from today's New York Times.)

just got in from watching part of the parade - it was too damned cold , too damned windy & the parade was too damned long & slow moving to watch the whole thing (and as much as i hate to admit it i am now very happy to be back in trousers - its gonna take a while for my bits to get back to thier proper place after the prolonged exposure they had ...)
ANYWAY - saw very few solid colored kilts out today ... only 2 saffron , one medium blue & a pipe corp of BRIGHT yellow, but the rest were all tartans of varying colors & clans - will post pics as soon as i get them from the other members of my krew who had better cameras than I.
Cheers!
ITS A KILT, G** D*** IT!

Not to get too political but that's what the british call an "acceptable irish kilt". Gods do I dispise that color. Oh sorry I'm just telling you how I really feel. Won't happen again... for awhile

Not sure I understand your meaning, sir.
It's not us you have to worry about -- just don't make that remark one of the "Micks" (The Irish Guards), a squaddie from the Royal Irish Regiment or one of the Irish Air Corps Pipers!
