Like Mike S., I'm a reenactor (also a rendezvouser) who makes a lot of his own gear. Guess cabin fevers finally taking hold, I got the urge to get a few projects finished off. The first photo is some sporrans I've made over the last couple of weeks. The cantles are from Stillwater. The fur sporran is actually better looking in person, I didn't notice that the gusset wasn't laying right until I downloaded the picture. The fur is kangaroo. The irony of making a pouch out of a kangaroo pelt was just too good to pass up.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5.../Myhand002.jpg
The other shot is some knifework I completed recently. The top piece is the rare, but often discussed "cap dubh". Very handy for apres piping situations, and those times when an actual blade might give someone the vapors. The black handled sgian is an Atlanta Cutlery blade. The stag handled one is a blade made by a gent from New Zealand, who used to come over here for some of the Rendezvous.

					very impressive work
where did you buy the cantles of the two sporrans on the right hand side of the photo??? I am interested in making my own sporrans - have a freelander styled all cut out just awaiting stiching but have hesitated in even thinking about doing a dress sporran as i had no idea as to where to get the parts that cant be home made...

p.s. what part of NJ are you - I am JC - right across from lower manhattan

I find it somewhat strange, and not a little ironic, that kangaroo fur is acceptable in the States, but that seal fur is not. What is it, has everyone forgotten Skippy?

Very nice work, and I like it! I see you favor the older, period styles as well.....must be the historian/reenactor coming out in both of us!I see from your title, as well as BillMcc's, that you are fellow pipers and devotees of the Great Highland Bagpipe like myself. Cheers.

As Bill noted, the cantles were ordered from Stillwater. One came with the tassle tops, one without. Both were $25 when I ordered them.
