    Hamish you're a lovable "ham"!

Thanks for giving us your reflections on the VideoNation thing. In spite of its shortcomings, for most of us, it was a chance to know you a little better and hear your sonorous voice. Now, when we read your posts, we can hear you speaking.

    Regards!

Not only stylish but incredibly eloquent. You are the man Hamish. Of course we all knew that but now the world! By the way you've got a great on air presence and voice. Maybe you should do some broadcasting for the BBC in your spare time Here's to you

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but the video won't play for me. I use "Real Player" and when I try to load the clip, I get a message saying "software update required, but then when it tries to update I get another nessage saying "no software available for this file." If anyone can help, please open a thread in the "Tech" topic, so we can discuss this without disrupting this thread further than I already have. But please offer some advice, I'd love to hear Hamish.

Great clip Hamish. Very well done.

JRMC are you using the Firefox browser? I believe there is a conflict with this browser and Real Player.

I've seen the video and while Hamish was obviously sincere and knowledgeable on his subject I was a bit concerned that the presentation was such that some viewers might not take him seriously. That's a fine imitation leather kilt, Ham, I saw somebody wearing one like it at the Edinburgh Kilt Walk. Your photo also shows the lightning bolt kilt pin to advantage. I must bring that photo up on my PC screen while I'm fitting my lightning bolt kilt pin to my kilt, so that I fit it in the best looking position.

Unfortunately, all the preparatory work I had done for this VideoNation clip went out of the window when it came to the actual filming. I should have been given full control over the content (the BBC's contribution for these things is usually to do no more than the editing), but a Producer came to the house at the last minute and proceeded to direct me - where I stood, what I wore, almost what I said, everything. I don't believe either of those kilts were well-accessorised, and I should have preferred not to have been told to mention the 's---t' word. I'd really like an opportunity to re-shoot it without the Producer's 'assistance', but it is not the BBC's policy to permit a second clip to be made on the same, or a similar, topic.

Yes, Howie made that one for me in July 2000 (I liked it so much I had a brown one made three years later!) and it is still one of my favourite kilts for everyday wear. It's been worn countless times and is still like new. I wore it only yesterday to do my weekly supermarket (Tesco) shopping and for a visit to Homebase (DIY) store.
