    I agree Derek.

My little town/city is less than 7,000. Been kilted full time for over seven months now and off and on for a year and a half.

I very seldom get comments anymore. I do get "the look" from the tourists who come through in droves.

But the local comments are gone. Coworker comments are gone. Like someone else posted, the big deal would be if I showed up to work in pants again.

Indeed, Just be yourself and it all will work out. I spent Friday kilted at work and at the pubs later on. (Irish national tartan)
I was a bit nervous due to the fact that my lab is above a large metel fabrication facility. I figured those guys would snicker, comment, etc. Nothing of that though. One actualy said Rich, If anyone can get away with wearing a kilt to work you can...

Not to get too far off topic, but take a look at the kilt hose link between first & second post. Then check out specials. I have several pair, very serviceable, very affordable. Excellant service, fast delivery.

I must admit that I have been a little bit disappointed that I get almost no coments at all, the nearest full size grocery store is in a small farming town about 15 minutes away. No one said anything about my kilt. The small community where I get mail, has two convience stores and a post office. Not a word. If I drive 45 minutes to the nearest large city, I might get a "nice kilt" maybe.

Boy - how things change... I remember going through seven kinds of worrry about "if" I should start wearing my new kilt to teach in this semester. With the support from my boss and this crazy little clan I walked into the classroom first day of class in January and swallowed hard. In just a few months its gone from an oddity to the norm (as normal as I can get...) and now - each week I only hear about my kilt I haven't worn one to class yet!

If you are like me - I say don't let your assumptions about how others will react stop you from wearing a kilt - its likely a bigger deal in your head than it is to anyone else..

Indeed, just be yourself. It's a fact that most of the objections often come from ourselves.

    Derek,

You are one of many people I know, who just emits comfort while donning the Cilt. Glad that others have noticed. Well done.

Well, said Phil. Like Ron, I've been wearing kilts full time for over 7 months. People notice, but it's just not a big deal. The only time people who know me comment anymore is when I'm wearing a kilt they have never seen.

I remember the 2nd time I went out wearing a kilt, and a women remarked how wonderful it was to see a man wearing a kilt. She went on to say that more men should being wearing them, and that men here in the US needed to lose their "John Wayne attitude."
