Buchannan looks good with both in my opinion but I think brown would compliment it very well, especially if you have a brown belt and shoes to combine with it. You will get the best over all appearance if you match all of your leather to the same color.
One other note about sporrans...They usually come with chain belts. These look nice for dress occasions but may not look quite right for casual wear and they will increase the wear and tear on the kilt fabric. You would do well to find an old, narrow leather belt (1/2" to 1") to use instead.
Also, the Price on USA's web site includes freight. So sporrans from them are $50 delivered. The other option, which is the way I got my Brown BK is to watch Stillwaters auction site. I picked it up for $40 or $45 plus $8 shipping. Great deal!!!

Well, I have both brown and black boots...but I guess I'm more of a brown leather man. Do you mean get a small leather belt to hold up the sporran?

Yes. I'm wearing a leather strap on the sporran in my photo above. I also wrote a small thread about what I feel are nice features to look for in a strap from some of my experiments

Food for thought: if you spend a wee bit more on a good quality sporran, you won't have to replace the cheaper one you might buy down the road. Think of it as investment. A well-made sporran, such as a Freelander (shameless plug!) will last longer than a cheap one, and you won't have to spend more money down the road.
My wife likes that arguement! Try it, it might just work.

A nice Brown Freelander would look great with the Weathered Buchanan.

I'd be careful ordering a brown BK with that tartan... the brown is a very DARK brown (think mud). Black is safer and matches damn near everything.

I've had a black buzz kidder for a while and love it. Sporran talk a few weeks back got me thinkin' I needed one in brown. It arrived today.
<------ doing happy dance.

Yeah, I've found some that I like. I found a black one that has the Buchanan crest on it as well.
