Picking out outfit for the day

I was going through my closet last night picking out my clothes for today and I found myself really enjoying it (hmmm, the Gunn or Hunting MacLeod? and what shirt?). I know that many of you have posted regarding your new found awareness (and enjoyment) of accessorizing, but I was wondering how many others enjoyed picking out your kilt outfit and looked forward to the next day just because you got to wear a kilt?

I've decided that I'll only be purchasing clothes that can be worn well with a kilt.

will make morning soo much easier, as I am not one to fuss over which shirt to wear.

    Thumbs up

I think that picking out ones kilt outfit is one of the great things about being kilted. Rather than tossing on a pair of jeans or Dockers, even a suit, you slow down and think about your outfit. I've managed to break it down into formal, casual, work and church/hospital visitation. I've found that I do enjoy it and look forward to the next day.

I totally agree, SB. I plan what I will wear a day in advance, and take into account the weather forecast. I also pay more attention to my shoes than I did before I started wearing kilts. I always make sure that they are clean and shined if it's a pair that you would typically polish. Like KT, I also make clothing purchases with my kilts in mind.

I think that we "sell" the kilt when we wear it publicly whether we want to or not. That said, I want to leave the impression of "that guy looks great!" When you look good, you feel good, and it shows repect for the people around you.

Oh yes the night before when I lay out everything to match it perfectly. A light yellow shirt to go with my Hunting Stewart, proper Kilt hose and flashes. Then I wake up in the morning and the mood strikes me to wear my Maple Leaf, then everything starts anew.

I never did have this problem before Kilts became my life, I wonder why?

I have found the best way to match is to limit my kilt purchases to my family tartan. Then again, since I've only one tartan kilt to worry about, it isn't much of a problem...yet.

I go through the same thing. Even though I plan the day before, I sometimes change my mind in the morning. Yesterday I had planned on wearing my SWK black heavyweight today, but this AM decided to go with my Black Stewart. It wasn't a problem in the pre-kilt days. Why? I think because we just thought of our attire as clothes. Of course kilts are just clothes, but somehow they are so much more - historical, pride, conversation pieces, comfort, individuality, etc.

I find myself standing taller/straighter. It brings about a precision of movement like marching on parade.

It is a great feeling to march in a parade to the sound of the pipes and the sound of the sporran tassles beating time and the kilt swinging. Love It!
