That is what is claimed about this particular model, but I've never been able to find any concrete documentation for this type of sgain dubh being used by the Highland Regiments of the British Army. Until I see documentation, I'm leary of the claim -- I am a Missourian, after all, so you've got to "show-me"!
I have a book with a picture of the original
when I get home from work tonight I'll try to photograph the page
and post it along with the information on the knife.
I think that this sgain dubh was a private purchase not regiment issue

There is ALWAYS someone who is bigger than you and out for trouble. If you want you can always tattoo something on your leg if that's what you want, myself? I think that I'll stay with something shiney that I can put next to a goblin's ear to let him know that I am serious.

I find it's usually NOT the bigger guys who are the problem. Most of them are just trying to enjoy themselves. I find that much more trouble comes from smaller guys, who must feel they need to prove something.

Yeah, I'm 6 foot 2 and 275 lbs and I'm never looking for trouble but I'm always running into these smaller guys who just want to fight, I don't know what it is....

Yeah, you're my size (OK I'm 15 pounds heavier). The little guys must have inferiority complexes.

Great! I'd love to see it! I only wish companies would provide the documentation as well. Being a librarian, a history teacher and a living historian with the NPS, I like documentation!
Cheers

Chris.
I'm only 10% serious here. I can't think of a single "dicey" situation I've been involved in that would have been improved by someone being armed. I guess I've been lucky and make of point of staying out of trouble.
