Scotty, have you seen the real thing, or just samples on the net? Most of the pictures on the net look pretty turquoise on my monitor, but the real thing is more true blues.

Well I wasn't born there, but I moved there when I was 7 and lived there for over 20 years before moving to Atlanta. I married into a "coon-***" family from New Roads.... Speaking of which, my inlaws are visiting next week and are bringing 3 sacks of crawfish.... what will the neighbors think!

They'll just be jealous! I haven't had good crawdad's in ages. Something from a fish fry or the fais-do-do on Sat. nite.

I wonder if anyone has tried a ceilidh / fais-do-do combo?

[fais-do-do is the cajun version of Sat. night community dance.]

Yes, in a "round-about" way -- my MIL, who taught a class on Cajun culture at one of the local universities (she's a sociology major) spoke to our Scottish society about the history and culture of the Cajuns, and their ties to the Scots and Irish -- we had traditional Cajun food and music, as well as Scottish Country and Cajun dance!

    Cheers,

    Todd

Lived there for 8 years while at LSU. Married a gal from Metarie (suburb of New Orleans). Her folks' house was the only one on their block that did not get flooded.
Looking forward to a crwfish boil soon. We actually order them air-freighted to NC.
You guys think kilts are an addiction...they pale in comparison to a love of Cajun food.

    Pass the boudin!

We're just about to start fishing giant crawdads up this way. Most people call them lobster.

The Cajuns have a legend that crawfish are actually lobsters that followed them south during Le Grand Derangement to Louisiana -- as they travelled south, they shrank!

    Laissez les bon temps rouler!
