I completely understand this phenomenon of which you all speak. I, too, have lately found myself in front of the mirror trying on different combinations. Where I once would walk past a men's clothing store with out notice, I now frequently find myself browsing for items that would wear well with the kilt. Just today I discarded a fine cigar only half way through it's practical life to browse. This is only half of the obsession however.
Because I have become so conserned about my appearance I have also made a commitment to shed the extra weigh I put on over the last couple of years. Being so serious about looking sharp while kilted I have actually been sticking to my routine. Of course kilted hikes are a part of the routine, so it isn't too difficult to enjoy. Tomorrow I might leave the kilt hung in the closet however, wear an old pair of my rugby shorts, and jog up the hill rather than walk.

And just what do you have against jogging in a kilt? Choosing shorts instead of a kilt is discrimination, is it not?
