Hi Sandy,
Here's a link to a document of permitted & prohibited items for flights originating within the U.S.

Notice that for knives, you cannot have them on your person or in carry-on luggage, but it says "Yes" you can take them in your checked-in baggage.
Personally, before going to the airport, I'd call the airline & confirm that you can pack your Sgian Dhus in your checked luggage.
