Much smoother than the acrylic fabric you are looking at. Tartan pattern is nice and crisp (as crisp as a Black Watch can be, since it's so dark).

This is soooo tempting...I wish that they had some other tartans available, though...they mention MacLean and if they had Hunting MacLean, I'd jump on it in a minnit. I am trying so hard to be virtuous and save up for a somewhat more "major" kilt purchase......

Do you think this kilt would stand up to a week of hard hiking/backpacking in the berkshires of western massachusetts?

Also, how is the sizing? is the 38" kilt waist or pant waist?

I'd replace the straps as I mentioned in my review before I headed into the boonies, otherwise I'm sure it'd hold up just fine.

I"m 38" at the navel, and the 38" kilt at that height is tightened to the center hole on the straps, so I'd say their sizing is dead on. I'm 6'3" and that brings the hem to the center of my knee.

fantastic. I'll have to order a pair of them at 36". At 6'3 myself, I am dead set on loosing extra baggage, so with a kilt that will only go so big, it should be a perfect fit!

If quality is as good as u said,... 100$ will not be expensive for an extremely rare tartan kilt!

I had sent a message requesting availability of 3 tartans in my size; a MacDonald, a BW and a Pride of Scotland.

He has the first 2 in-stock and said if he could get orders for 10 or more Pride of Scotpland kilts, he could get me one ASAP. Hey Mark, you must have emailed via ebay. I emailed on their website and its now ten days with no response.

Asked about the Ottawa tartan they advertise. Guess they don't want to sell any or sold out.

Not very sales oriented to ignore buying questions.

Don't think I'd buy from them now at all. If they'd ignore a buying email they'd sure ignore any emails with problems.

I understand where you're comin' from Ron. I did in-fact communicate with them through their eBay account. I'll drop him a line and let him know you are upset and want a response about the Ottawa tartan. I'd imagine it is a provincial Canadian tartan. Anyhow, let us know if you do get a reply!

Kilts look very interesting, especially after reading Tartan Hiker's review.

The only length offered appears to be 27" which is way too long for me; do they offer other lengths? Also, noticed that the e-bay listing states that:

"other tartans are available as custom bulk orders of 6 or more. Again please inquire."
