That's a ripper of an article. Nice buy on the mustang. Great your wife supported your dream there, but then dissed you nationally, well now internationally. shallow indeed!

Best car I ever owned? A no brainer. A 1968 Pontiac LeMans in Aztec Gold with a big block 350. That thing was tough and fast. Driving it felt like flying.

Well Star is Nora Charles to my Nick so its her job to take me down a peg, but with lots of love and a lovely smile. Also I can't complain about her dissing me internationally because I wrote the article.

My '95 Ford Mustang GT convertible runs very strong. It has a Flowmaster exhaust and makes wonderful (or awful depending on your point of view) VOOM VOOM VOOM noises. It's a thing, it's a machine, and it's a possession.
In the great scheme of things material objects aren't really that important...

however...

On a beautiful day, when I don't have any responsibilities, you will find me driving down the road in my rumbling wonderful Mustang convertible blasting Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher", The Beach Boys' "Shut Down", or Billy Idol's "You don't need a Gun" with a smile on my face and contentment in my soul.

Sorry if it sounded like i was having a go before, it was more out of curiosity. hell we all could do with dose of reality check every now and then. And if our considerable other cannot, then whom?
And have you sampled any early (pre '76) zz top in the stang yet? Context can make all the difference in the world.

Amazing, now we know we're also a bunch of gearheads who wear kilts.

My first sports car was a 59 Austin Healy Sprite complete with all Lucas electrical devices. In my later years I have graduated to bigger and better things, drove a C-4 Vette for 17 years, now driving a C-5 Vette.

Wizard, I do envy you, I love the E-Jags.

You know its funny about my music. In the 80's I was absolutely into New Wave (Adam Ant, Duran Duran, David Bowie, etc.). During the early 90's had a slight brush with Country/Western music (I was into C/W dancing) , 50's rock and swing music (also did West and East Coast swing dancing). The last 7 or so years I have been really into classical music and the crooners (Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald). Now when I got the Mustang none of my cds really seemed to fit the mood of cruising along in a muscle car. So I started getting some more appropriate music. Its been fun discovering the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, The Rolling Stones (before they became a corporation), Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Queen, and CREAM! I'll have to look into some ZZ Top.
The only tunes I remember from them are "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man". The latter of course describes all of us gents here at X-Marks the Scot.
